Charlie Stephenson was born in Stone Mountain, GA on October 25, 1932. He grew up in Milstead, GA and attended Conyers High School. He enlisted in US Marine Corps and received training at Camp Pendleton and Paris Island. During the Korean War, he was promoted to Sergeant. He retired from General Motors’ Lakewood Division after a 30-year service. His achievements and efforts to make Marine Corps stronger cannot be captured in the Charlie Stephenson Obituary.
Not only did he serve his country, but he also visited the Atlanta VA Medical Center to give toiletries and cheer veterans up. Charlie was a friend in the Baptist Church of Sandy Plains, General Motors Salaried Employees Retirees Club and the National Rifle Association. Charlie was instrumental in recruiting volunteers for the Meals on Wheels, Feed the hungry and Buddy Poppy Fund Drives that helped needy families.
