Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), an Indian Premier League (IPL), franchise, will wear a special jersey against Rajasthan Royals(RR) when the two teams meet at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on 23 April. To show support for the “Go Green” initiative, Bangalore-based franchises will be wearing a special green jersey.
This announcement was made by the franchise via social media. “RCB’s Green Game against Rajasthan Royals will be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on the 23rd April,” tweeted RCB.
Since the 2011 edition, the franchise has worn the green jersey. The franchise’s first ever game with a green jersey was in 2011 IPL, when it faced off against the now-defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
It is also important to mention that the Bangalore-based franchise only wears green jerseys during afternoon matches. As part of this special initiative, the skipper presents a plant to the opposing skipper during the toss.
RCB supporters fear another defeat
Although this is a great initiative by one of the most prestigious IPL franchises, RCB fans are still uneasy after the announcement. This is due to RCB’s poor record in playing with the green jersey. Since the jersey was first worn by the franchise every season, it has lost only three games – in 2011, 2016 and 2022. They have also lost seven of their remaining matches.
Fans were compelled to share their hilarious reactions via social media after seeing the terrible record of RCB green jersey.
